Grief and Outrage Unite Arizonans
On Jan. 7, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. Three days later, demonstrators gathered at locations across the country, including the Cole Park pedestrian bridge in Tempe, Arizona, to protest the shooting and federal immigration enforcement policies.
President Donald Trump and Department of Homeland Security officials said ICE's actions were justified and criticized the demonstrations. Immigrant rights advocates and some members of Congress said the statements were inappropriate.
